Guillermo Delgado is an interdisciplinary artist and educator whose teaching spans art, poetry, community engagement, and contemplative practices including yoga, meditation, and walking. Across every setting he enters, he works to create safe, accessible, and mindful learning opportunities.

Since 2014, Guillermo has facilitated creative workshops inside men’s correctional facilities, including the juvenile detention center in Lansing.

Storytelling through songwriting is a central creative pursuit for Guillermo, who earned a songwriting certificate from Interlochen. Alongside that work, he has embarked on a quest to reclaim his maternal language and to dream in Spanish again—reading and writing poetry in Spanish, and learning to play Son Jarocho, the regional folk music of Veracruz, Mexico.

A very long time ago, he was a magician, a deejay for hire, and a bicycle messenger in Chicago.

“I’m not saying art will save you, but as humans, we need hope to survive and thrive. Art is hope. And hope allows us to imagine something better for ourselves and the world, and art builds bridges between us all.”
